A.J. Kirkwood & Associates, Inc. actively is involved with the leadership boards of various industry non-profit organizations,
participates as committee members with electrical training programs, and gives time and resources to The Trimmer Foundation - a national, non-profit
educational trust for the National Associated Builders & Contractors.
In the past, Arch Kirkwood has served on the board of directors of the National Electrical Contractors Association and the board of directors of the Downey Community Hospital
Derek Morris has served many years on the board of trustees for the Associated Builders & Contractors, Southern California, the
Electrical Unilateral Apprenticeship Committees for ABC SoCal and Los Angeles/Ventura chapters, and leadership boards for ABC national. Currently,
AJK&A continues with ABC leadership, with employee representatives serving on the Board of Directors and the EUAC's for local chapters.
AJK&A participates with the International Electrical Contractors Association in San Antonio, TX, training apprentices through
their program and serving on their apprenticeship committee. We are also active members in Associated General Contractors.
In 2003, AJK&A worked with the U.S. Depart of Labor's "Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training" to develop our own Federally
approved apprenticeship Program. As an Accredited Training Sponsor with the National Center for Construction Education and Research, we were able to
utilize their curriculum in approving the Standards for our program.
In Southern California, AJK&A takes part on an advisory board for Orange Coast College and is partnering with them
to develop electrical journeymen upgrade courses that will be offered to our employees and other members of the community.
Whether it be sponsoring local grammar and high schools, sports teams, craft competitions, AJK&A people do their best to serve our community.
