The Kirkwood family has been serving the electrical industry for four generations.  Arch began his career working part time at Kirkwood Electric during high school and college.  In 1964 Arch purchased the company from his father and, in a short number of years, quickly turned Kirkwood Electric into one of the largest electrical contractors in Southern California.  Wanting to create an Employee Owned Company, Arch started AJK&A in 1996. Arch has now grown AJK&A into a significant player in the Southern California construction market.

Michael Hewson
CFO, VP, & Treasurer
As a graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Michael brings years of experience to the financial leadership of AJK&A. Michael oversees all aspects of the company’s financial business and manages the accounting and IT Departments.

Leah Zappia
Chief Operations Officer & Corporate Counsel
Leah started with the Company in 2006 and currently serves as the Company’s Chief Operations Officer. She holds her Electrical Journeyman card, an MBA from the University of Redlands and a law degree from Western State College of Law. Leah is a California licensed attorney and assists the Company with legal matters.

Aidan Culligan

Aidan began working in the electrical industry over 33 years ago. He spent 17 years in the field before moving into management as Sponsor, and eventually Executive Vice President. His experience ranges from sports arenas to large hotels. His hard work, leadership, and dedication to field personnel has earned him the respect of over 400 top field personnel in the industry. In addition to his corporate and sponsor responsibilities, Aidan directs and chairs the Labor Committee.

Eric Fiorino
Executive Vice President
Eric began his career with AJK&A in the year of 2000, shortly after receiving a degree specializing in CAD design. Throughout the years, Eric has led many roles beginning as an Electrical field apprentice and now proudly serves as an Executive Vice President. Eric is passionate about delivering quality installation to his clients and offers the best of the best product lines in the industry. He thrives on doing things right and is thankful for the support of his team and fellow co-workers.

Brad Hanenberg
Operations Manager
Brad has managed a variety of projects ranging in complexity during his tenure at AJK&A. Brad is now responsible for running his own team made up of Project Managers, Estimators, and Project Engineers.

A born leader, Henry has led the charge on many of AJK&A’s most challenging projects both during his tenure in the field and during his time in the office. Henry is now responsible for running his own team made up of Project Mangers, Estimators, and Project Engineers.

Shawn Stauffer
Operations Manager
Shawn has worked in the electrical industry since 1977 as an inside wireman, general foreman, general superintendent, director of field operations, and senior project manager. His strengths are design/build projects, installation methods, and quality control. He works hard to give the people working with him the support they need to succeed.

David Jacques
Operations Manager
With 35 years of experience, David began his electrical carrier in the field as an electrician and field management before heading into the office. Since leaving the field, he has supported his company as a Sponsor, Project Executive, Pre-Construction Manager, Sr. Project Manager, and Project Manager. There aren’t many aspects of the electrical contracting trade that he has not been a part of. His past projects include classified structures, higher education facilities, high-rise commercial buildings, hospitality, food processing, pharmaceutical, aerospace, and military facilities.

Derek Morris
Safety Director
No one in the organization has more energy and commitment to excellence than our safety director. Derek is unrelenting in his pursuit of a completely safe work environment in each nook and cranny on every work site. AJK&A enjoys an enviable safety record because of his efforts.

Carlos Bello
Labor Relations Manager
Carlos was born in Lima, Peru, and grew up in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Soon after graduating with a BA in Communication Studies from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, he embarked on a career in the construction and building industry in San Francisco that has now exceeded 20 years. As the Labor Relations Manager with AJK, his duties include full-cycle recruiting, worker assessment, succession planning, diversity and inclusion, conflict resolution, manpower scheduling and labor projecting. He is currently working on his master’s degree in human resources management at the University of Southern California. In addition to his responsibilities at AJK, Carlos is involved with Women in Construction Operations (WiOPS).

Michelle Kirkwood

Michelle Kirkwood began her career at A.J. Kirkwood in 2001 as Corporate Relations Director. She has also served on the Board of Directors since 2008. Mrs. Kirkwood is extremely proud of her A.J. Kirkwood & Associates family.

Trent Stouvenel
CAD Department Manager
Managing a diverse group of professionals, Trent brings over 16 years of electrical and fire alarm design experience to AJK&A’s engineering group. His ability to adapt to evolving design and construction standards, coupled with his strong drive to always exceed customer expectations, makes him an essential leader in our organization.

Isariya Duncan
Electrical Engineer
After graduating from UC Irvine, Isariya was given an opportunity to travel back to her native Thailand to backpack through the country for six months or to start her first full time position. She chose the job and has never regretted it. She has over 30 years of engineering experience with commercial, residential, industrial, government (local, state and federal), correctional, hospitality, primary and higher education and theme park projects. She also has experience with projects overseas and in other U.S. states, and maintains multiple state licenses.

Michael Stefun
Electrical Engineer
Michael is a Registered Electrical Engineer with the state and has developed and designed many projects for the company over the past 6 years. Michael graduated from Cal State Northridge specializing in Power Systems. He has had a long career in the electrical trade starting in the field as an electrical apprentice over 30 years ago. Michael has passed the Journeyman exam, has a teaching credential in electrical, and continues to stay current on the latest codes and requirements.

Kathryn Christensen
Office & Human
Resources Manager
Managing an office and accounting support group serving nearly 600 employees is not an undertaking for the weak of heart. Kathryn has a big heart and an unwavering spirit in her pursuit of excellence.

Mike Toyer
Director of Information Technology
Mike served our country in the US Army Corp Signal Corp. After being honorably discharged, he earned degrees from DeVry Institute of Technology and Cal Poly Pomona. In addition, Mike brings over 20 years of IT experience through managing his own company and is a huge asset for AJK&A.

Dan Ticorat
Shop Manager
Following a 15-year career with The Boeing Company in Long Beach, Dan started a new career with A.J. Kirkwood in April of 2005. As AJK’s “Mr. Do It All,” Dan did all the prefab/warehouse work that the company had for several years. As the company has grown, the size and capabilities of the prefab shop have grown substantially. In 2014, the Prefab Shop moved into a 25,000 square foot building where Dan ran a crew of up to 20 employees. Recently he was promoted to the position of Shop Manager. Dan has a big heart that bleeds Kirkwood Blue.
