The new facility will feature a dining hall with seating for over 200 indoors and 30 outdoors, as well as a multipurpose room, lobby, study spaces, offices, and an outdoor terrace. The design emphasizes connectivity, technology integration, and sustainability, providing 19,845 SF of space that supports academic, social, and wellness needs. Designed to support both in-person and hybrid engagement, the renovation will improve dining efficiency and create a vibrant, connected space that meets the evolving needs of the growing Mesa Court community. This resort-style facility will offer a wide range of premium amenities, including indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, a Beach Club complete with pools, and a poolside bistro, delivering a wellness-focused experience that goes far beyond a traditional gym. AJK is proud to deliver the complete electrical infrastructure for this custom-built project. Our scope includes the installation of a 2000-amp electrical service with four dedicated electrical rooms, a comprehensive Distributed Antenna System (DAS), and a state-of-the-art fire alarm system. The project consisted of the renovation of the existing exterior plaza and includes the removal of existing temporary food service structures in the plaza, raising the elevation of the lower portion of the existing plaza, removal and replacement of the existing main entry stair, and addition of escalators from Grand Avenue to the new podium elevation. The plaza features five new one-story buildings: a welcome center, a full dining restaurant, a wine bar, a coffee bar, and restrooms.AJK installed video screens, speakers, lighting controls, and lighting stations to update the venue for mixed-use outdoor performances and events. Crocker Umeya Apartments is a transformative, ground-up development designed to meet the growing need for affordable housing in the urban core. < Back Crocker Umeya Apartments Located at the intersection of Skid Row and Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles, the Crocker Umeya Apartments is a transformative, ground-up development designed to meet the growing need for affordable housing in the urban core. Spanning 161,000 square feet, this seven-story mixed-use complex offers 175 residential units in studio, one-, and two-bedroom layouts, all priced for low-income households. Notably, half of the units are dedicated as permanent supportive housing, providing comprehensive wraparound services to help formerly unhoused residents thrive in a stable living environment. The project also includes 8,700 square feet of ground-level commercial space, encouraging community engagement and economic development. A single level of subterranean parking supports 29 vehicle stalls and 135 bicycle stalls, promoting accessibility and sustainable transportation options. Residents will enjoy key amenities such as a community center, a café, and over 7,000 square feet of open space, including two landscaped courtyards designed for relaxation and social connection. AJK provided the full installation of electrical, fire alarm, DAS (Distributed Antenna System), security, and data systems. Electrical infrastructure is supported by several dry-type transformers ranging in size from 45kVA to 500kVA. A Collicut 200kW diesel generator, located at ground level, ensures emergency power supply. The new switchgear is rated at 3000 amps and 480 volts, while a Leviton metering system provides in-unit electrical monitoring via panel-installed meters. The second phase was the integration of Wifi through the venue to improve event experiences for guests. For the first time in twenty years, the box office was renovated and additional pre-function space was installed to create more open space for visitors, a store to feature merchandise and souvenirs, and a market where snacks and beverages could be purchased. The last phase included the replacement of house lights direct to the owner.
