The UCLA Nimoy Theater project was a historic renovation to convert the historic Crest Theatre, first opened in 1940, into the Nimoy Theater for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). < Back UCLA Nimoy Theater The UCLA Nimoy Theater renovation includes 150 permanent seats on risers and a flexible ground-floor seating area that can accommodate an additional 299 seats in various configurations. The restoration preserved many of the theater's original art deco-inspired features, such as the historic marquee, light fixtures, decorative columns, and wall-mounted interior decorative pylons. Strategically located near LAX, this 9,400-square-foot facility will become the cornerstone for advancing workforce development, safety, and operational excellence within CalTrans maintenance teams. The center will offer comprehensive training programs, including defensive driving, equipment operations, and advanced technical skills, ensuring crews are prepared for the complex demands of maintaining California’s transportation infrastructure. Designed with innovation in mind, the facility will feature a large classroom, computer lab, simulator rooms, and dedicated office spaces, creating an immersive environment that blends hands-on learning with cutting-edge technology. The Palisades HS Relocation project was a fast-tracked conversion of a vacant building into a fully functioning, code-compliant school in just five weeks. < Back Pechanga Chammakilawish Tribal School The new Pechanga Chammakilawish Tribal School was a groundbreaking educational facility situated on an expansive 80-acre site in Temecula, California. AJK was responsible for providing the complete electrical infrastructure for four new buildings that accommodated students from early childhood through elementary grades. This included power and lighting systems, as well as fire alarm systems. In addition to the building systems, AJK also installed comprehensive site-wide electrical infrastructure, which consisted of new telecommunications duct banks, advanced lighting controls, and full interconnectivity for the fire alarm systems across the entire campus. The Moss Adams Irvine project involved a complete tenant improvement of the 7th floor within an active, fully operational multi-story commercial building. < Back Moss Adams - Irvine The Moss Adams Irvine project involved a complete tenant improvement of the 7th floor within an active, fully operational multi-story commercial building. The floors directly above and below remained fully functional throughout the construction period, necessitating careful coordination and execution to minimize disruption to ongoing operations. This 22,000 square foot space underwent a full remodel, retaining only the existing core areas: the elevator lobby, restrooms, and stairwell. A.J. Kirkwood & Associates, Inc. (AJK) was contracted to provide a comprehensive electrical and low-voltage package as part of the renovation. AJK's scope of work included the installation of all-new, high-efficiency LED lighting fixtures and a state-of-the-art nLight lighting control system, ensuring energy efficiency and modern functionality. Additionally, the team provided complete low-voltage infrastructure, which included all voice and data cabling as well as cabling for room scheduling systems. To support the updated layout and technology requirements, AJK installed 25 new poke-through floor boxes. This required precision coring into the existing floor slab and coordination with the occupied space below. Fire alarm systems were also upgraded, with AJK responsible for all conduit, devices, and wiring. The restoration of the former government building resulted in an up-to-code blank canvas for future commercial tenants. < Back 15000 Aviation The 15000 Aviation project was a restoration of a former government facility previously occupied by the Federal Aviation Agency. During the construction process, emphasis was placed on preserving the building's exterior shell, a commemorative plaque for 09-11, and a constitutional wall. The outcome of this restoration effort has resulted in a structurally sound and compliant space that serves as a versatile canvas for potential commercial tenants. This project encompassed six floors of core and shell work, featuring the installation of a chiller, boiler room, and cooling tower. Additionally, the building now houses a new IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame), a fire command room, and office spaces. Throughout the project, AJK ensured a consistent power supply for the owner. This involved the creation of a new electrical system spanning all six floors and the rooftop. Breakers were transferred to facilitate the refurbishment of the main switch gear, with a new system installed. The new gear was also set up to support an emergency backup system. The low voltage team contributed by installing a new Gamewell FCI fire alarm system, a security system, and a voice data system across all six floors and the rooftop.
