The CSUF Visual Arts Complex underwent a comprehensive 110,000-square-foot modernization aimed at revitalizing Buildings A, B, C, and D. < Back CSUF - Visual Arts Complex The California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) Visual Arts Complex underwent a comprehensive 110,000-square-foot modernization aimed at revitalizing Buildings A, B, C, and D. This extensive renovation addressed functional and building code deficiencies, resolved outdated programmatic elements, and significantly extended the facilities' life expectancy by an additional 50 years. Every aspect of the original structures was upgraded or replaced to support modern academic and creative needs. In addition, Building F was demolished to make way for a brand-new, two-story, 13,000-square-foot facility designed to house state-of-the-art technology and teaching spaces, enhancing the university’s ability to support contemporary arts education. AJK was responsible for the complete installation of electrical and power systems, lighting, fire alarm system, telecommunications, and low-voltage systems throughout the complex. The scope also included audiovisual infrastructure and access control, ensuring that the upgraded and new buildings are equipped with advanced, integrated systems to support a dynamic and flexible learning environment. The project includes 63 studio units designated for chronically homeless and homeless individuals, along with one two-bedroom manager’s unit. The hotel caters to the needs of both business travelers at the Courtyard and extended-stay guests at the Residence Inn visiting Marina del Rey. Both buildings share a lobby, waterfront restaurant and bar, and a second-level outdoor terrace showcasing the outdoor amenities including a pool, cabanas, and fireplace. The property also features a separate fitness building, a 72,000 sq. ft. subterranean parking structure, and a 28-foot-wide pedestrian promenade along the water with a new public dock service. The 384,200-square-foot project consists of four wood-frame residential buildings (Type III) atop a concrete podium (Type I), creating a dynamic blend of residential, commercial, and public space. 200 Mesnager features 280 thoughtfully designed residential units and approximately 22,000 square feet of commercial space—blending street-level retail with creative office use. Amenities include a fitness center with a yoga studio, dog park, fire pit, BBQ area, housing support services, and a second-level pool deck. At its core, the project offers a publicly accessible open-air courtyard highlighted by a striking stainless-steel cable oculus—designed to serve as a vibrant community gathering space in a neighborhood on the rise. The development includes two levels of subterranean parking with 300 stalls for cars and motorcycles, supporting both residents and commercial tenants. AJK was responsible for the complete electrical scope of the project, including all power, lighting, and electrical distribution systems. < Our Team Henry Gutierrez Executive Vice President Henry started as an electrical apprentice at ABC in 1998 and earned a Foreman title by the time he graduated in 2002. He ran projects for 10+ years before transitioning into the office as a Project Manager in 2012. With his work ethic and proficiency as a leader, he transitioned from PM to Sr. PM, then to Sponsor/Operations Manager, Senior Vice President, and currently Executive Vice President. His project experience ranges from Mixed-Use to Higher Education and everything in between. As an Executive Vice President, Henry oversees the Field Development of our company while maintaining his Sponsor/Operations Manager commitments.
